Following a review and consultation process lasting 12 years, the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022 was finally enacted in April this year. Every incorporated society in New Zealand that wishes to continue to enjoy the benefits of incorporation will need to review its constitution to ensure it meets the requirements of the new legislation, and then actively reregister as part of the process of transitioning to the new regime. This webinar will look at what incorporated societies need to do before transitioning, what they will need to do as part of the process of transitioning, and what they will need to do on an ongoing basis after having transitioned.
The webinar is intended to be suitable for those involved with incorporated societies, at whatever level, advanced or otherwise. It is intended to give both a theoretical overview as well as sufficient detail to be practical. Practitioners from both small and large firms should attend.
An overview of the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022, including fundamental principles, as well as practical aspects, such as what incorporated societies need to do before transitioning, in order to transition, and after having transitioned.
All those involved or likely to be involved with incorporated societies, at whatever level, should be familiar with this important new legislation, including lawyers and accountants in their professional and private capacities, not-for-profit specialists, and members and governors of incorporated societies themselves.
