Restructuring and Redundancy 2022 - 7 April 2022 (On Demand)

Restructures and redundancies are a fundamental component of the New Zealand employment landscape. This has only been highlighted by an increasing desire for workplace change driven by the COVID-19 environment.

Effectively and lawfully managing restructuring and redundancy is important, yet we see from case law that many businesses continue to pay a high price for getting it wrong.

This webinar will take you step by step through a restructure and redundancy process to help you achieve an outcome that is substantively justified, carried out in good faith and procedurally fair.

There are a wide range of employment law requirements and issues to consider and the risk of a personal grievance is high. One size also does not fit all, with different obligations triggered depending on the nature of the redundancy proposal.

Employers need to be equipped with sufficient tools to ensure that they can manage a process of workplace change with as little legal risk as possible.

7 April 2022

Attendees will learn about:

  • What redundancy / restructuring is and what constitutes a genuine business reason for a restructure
  • All the requirements for a procedurally fair process and how to avoid common pitfalls and fish hooks
  • Common employee arguments, strategies and personal grievance claims
  • Key redundancy cases from the Employment Court and the Employment Relations Authority
