Update on Overseas Investment Act 2021 - recent changes - 5 August 2021 (On Demand)

A summary & overview of transactions to be screened by the OIO after recent changes to the Overseas Investment Act

A webinar to enable legal and accounting advisers to understand key concepts in the Overseas Investment Act for investment in land and businesses by residential and commercial clients. Particular attention will be paid to the changes brought in in 2020 and 2021.

Aimed at lawyers and accountants advising on transactional matters, this webinar will appeal to both inexperienced and experienced practitioners with no more than a basic knowledge of the Overseas Investment Act regime.

This will provide sufficient detail to enable advisers to know when to raise potential Overseas Investment Act issues with clients, and how to deal with those issues at the pre-contractual stage.

5 August 2021

  • Understand key issues when advising clients on purchases of businesses and property, including an overview of investment pathways
  • Understand who is an “overseas person”
  • Understand the necessary tests to be satisfied in order to acquire “sensitive land” in residential property
  • Know key changes in the 2020 Urgent Measures Act

New and experienced lawyers and accountants who advise on transactional matters and who have no more than a limited understanding of the issues created by the Overseas Investment Act for clients. This webinar may also appeal to practitioners wanting an update on the latest developments in Overseas Investment Act issues.
