This legislation will increase sick leave entitlements and minimum wages for employees, strengthen the role of collective bargaining in the workplace, and improve fairness of pay.

Find out how to implement and manage changes to your workplace, including:

  • Sick leave entitlement will increase to 10 days’ per year. Find out how to reduce the impact of increased sick leave entitlement in the workplace.
  • Minimum wage will increase to $20 per hour from 1 April 2021. Find out how to manage minimum wage increase and living wages increase from 1 September 2021.
  • Pay equity. The Equal Pay Amendment Act 2020 aims to address pay equity where an employee predominantly employs one gender, such as in early childhood and care workers.
  • Fair pay agreements. Fair pay agreements will cover both employees and contractors enabling workers to have union representation during bargaining and union bargaining powers.
