Trust Series 2021 - Residential Care Subsidy Update

Description

This webinar, which is relevant to all practitioners who advise clients regarding Residential Care Subsidy (RCS) applications or expectations, is presented by Vicki Ammundsen.

RCS applications have two components. The first is the means test. The second is the income assessment.

This webinar will start with an overview of the means and income assessment for RCS purposes, the practical realities of long-term care and the likelihood of this being needed and will conclude with a critical analysis of the cost-benefit equation.

This webinar will also consider:

  • excess gifting
  • exempt assets and income
  • how to address “creative” estate planning

Topics covered will also include:

  • what does the Trusts Act 2019 mean with respect to RCS?
  • is it possible to “un-gift”?
  • how to communicate complex trust structures to MSD, and
  • how to advise clients who want to know whether or not to retain the trust

This practical webinar, which will provide a detailed current overview of RCS targeted at practitioners who have clients requiring or anticipating long term residential care.
