Tax Issues for Property Investors 2018 - 9 August 2018 (On Demand)

This highly practical webinar considers income tax issues relevant to property investors. Key issues addressed include the application of the purpose or intention of disposal test, the recently-extended bright-line test (including the effect of nominations, novations and assignments), tainting by association and tainted capital gains (including how to deal with tainting issues). The proposed ring-fencing rules for rental losses (along with strategies to minimise the impact of these rules) will also be discussed.

You will:

  • Understand when the “purpose or intention of disposal” test applies.
  • Learn about issues arising under the residential land “bright-line” test.
  • Know when clients can avoid being “tainted by association”.
  • Learn what to do if a client has a “tainted capital gain”.
  • Understand the proposals to ring-fence rental losses

Accountants, tax lawyers, property lawyers and others who advise clients on land transactions.
