The Rio effect
After the success of last year’s Lesson’s in Leadership webinar we decided we just had to do it again…
Another fabulous year for NZ sport and this year CCH Learning are delighted to be bringing you this one off webinar interview with Rob Waddell, the New Zealand Olympic team’s Chef de Mission for Rio 2016.
Leading up to 2016 Olympic Games, the media was full of the challenges the hosts Rio de Janeiro were facing as well as the issues the athletes would face upon arrival, water pollution, the Zika virus, safety problems, doping scandals as well as an unfinished and uninhabitable Olympic Village.
Despite these issues New Zealand went into the Rio Olympics with one of our youngest teams ever and came out with 18 medals, our highest tally ever, and a host of new sporting stars.
As Chef de Mission, Rob’s primary role was to provide overall leadership to the New Zealand team; supporting and promoting them by creating an environment for athletes, coaches and staff which was conducive to achieving optimal performance.
In this radio style interview, Rob will discuss what leadership means to him and the values he brought to his role. He will talk about the strategies he put in place to ensure that the NZ team rose above the challenges they faced heading into Rio and how he got the most out of his leaders and his team.
Interviewed by David Steele, there will be a Q&A session at the end and a chance to put your questions to Rob.
So, set up your boardroom, bring your team along, invite your clients and make this inspirational webinar one to remember.
